This we we were tasked with adding additional information to the thesis website. I needed to look back and edit my personal connection to my topic, as well as edit the purpose of my topic.
Through a case study approach, my graphic design MFA thesis project aims to provide small business owners with effective marketing and design strategies to connect with Generation Z consumers. By examining and successful case studies and conducting research on the preferences and characteristics of this demographic, I will develop design solutions and marketing tactics that are tailored to the needs of small businesses seeking to engage with Generation Z. This project will demonstrate my ability to apply design principles and techniques to real-world problems and communicate my ideas effectively to a broader audience.
As a graphic design MFA student, exploring ways to connect small businesses with Generation Z consumers is a great topic for my thesis project. I see it as a chance to delve into the intersection of design and marketing, conducting extensive research to analyze the unique characteristics and preferences of Generation Z.
Design plays a crucial role in the success of any marketing campaign, and it's especially important for small businesses looking to reach a new demographic. As the next generation of consumers, Generation Z holds significant buying power and is essential for small businesses to understand. By developing effective design strategies and marketing tactics, small businesses can better connect with this demographic and increase their success.
In addition to being a practical issue that I may encounter in my future career as a graphic designer, an MFA thesis project should also showcase my ability to apply design principles and techniques to real-world problems. I believe that this project would enable me to demonstrate my ability to use design to solve problems and communicate my ideas effectively to a broader audience, ultimately highlighting my strengths and capabilities as a designer.
My personal connection:
As a graphic design MFA student, the purpose of a thesis project is to showcase my mastery of design concepts and techniques, as well as to express my individual artistic vision and voice.
I am encouraged to explore my personal interests and develop a unique approach to design. The thesis project provides me with the opportunity to demonstrate my individuality by producing a body of work that reflects my personal style and interests.
This graphic design MFA thesis project focuses on connecting small businesses with Generation Z and offers insights into design strategies and marketing tactics that can be used to reach this demographic.
My interest is in how this thesis project explores ways to connect with Generation Z consumers through graphic design. The project offers insights into design strategies and marketing tactics that can be used to reach this demographic, which could be valuable for small business owners looking to expand their customer base.
My personal connection to this topic comes from my daughter, who is a Generation Z consumer. I say that my daughter is a Generation Z consumer, what I mean is that she is part of the demographic that this project is focused on. As a parent, I often observe her behaviors and interests, which gives me a unique perspective into what appeals to this age group. Through this project, I am able to learn more about the design elements and visual aesthetics that resonate with Generation Z consumers, which can ultimately help me to better understand and relate to my daughter and her peers.
Additionally, as a graphic designer, understanding the preferences of Generation Z is crucial for me to be able to create designs that are relevant and engaging. By exploring the design elements and visual aesthetics that appeal to this age group, I can incorporate those findings into my own design work, which may help me to better connect with clients who are trying to reach a Generation Z audience.
Therefore, my daughter's role as a Generation Z consumer is important to me because it provides a personal connection and insight into this demographic, as well as helps me to be more effective in my role as a graphic designer.
I am fascinated by the project's exploration of design elements and visual aesthetics that resonate with Generation Z consumers. I am also interested in how this project incorporates research and data to inform my design decisions.
With an AA in Marketing, my interest in this thesis project is that it explores ways to connect with a specific demographic. This project offers insights into how to develop marketing campaigns that resonate with Generation Z consumers and how to use design to create effective communication and engagement with this group.

I dove further into my deliverable one, specifically on the consultation video.
To start, I needed to understand my target audience. Generation Z consumers are different from previous generations in many ways, and it's important to be aware of their unique characteristics and preferences. To do this, I conducted extensive research on Gen Z demographics, trends, and behaviors.
Once I had a better understanding of my target audience, I started looking for successful case studies of small businesses that have effectively connected with Gen Z consumers. By studying these examples, I hope to identify commonalities in their marketing strategies and design approaches that can be applied to other businesses.
Next week I will be conducting user testing for the Dezign website. These are a few questions that I will be asking: Here are some questions you could consider asking research participants who are testing your MFA graphic design website prototype:
1. What were your first impressions of the website?
2. Did you find the website easy to navigate? Were there any parts that were confusing or difficult to understand?
3. Did you find the content on the website engaging and interesting? Were there any parts that you found particularly compelling or uninteresting?
4. Were you able to find the information you were looking for on the website?
ie: Where do you learn about Gen Z? Find where a client can sign up for a consultation.
5. Did you encounter any technical issues or glitches while using the website?
6. What did you think of the design and layout of the website? Did it feel visually appealing and professional? Do you think it resonates with small businesses with a Gen Z flare?
7. Did you find the website accessible and inclusive for all users?
8. Was the website mobile-responsive? Did it function well on your device?
9. Would you recommend this website to others? If so, why?
10. Do you have any suggestions or feedback on how the website could be improved?
