Whew, I'm in the final push to turn in the semester 1/3 materials for my thesis. It always makes me so nervous to end the semester. This semester is particularly important because if I don't pass, I'll have to retake this class. This week, I've been working on a few more items to complete the deliverables. Here's what's due:
Brand and visual system
Completed deliverable 1, 2, or 4
UX documentation for my product
Visual design prototype for my product
Thesis website, DS chart, and materials matrix
First and foremost, I'm worried about the completed deliverable. According to my Materials Matrix, I intended to have the marketing and design firm materials as a completed deliverable. However, the consultation video presentation doesn't currently meet the university standards. I've decided to revisit this deliverable after my summer class. As part of the marketing and design firm, I've created a website, which is actually part of deliverable one, even though it's labeled as deliverable 2. The website is almost finished, but it's missing the case study component, which I won't be able to complete until next semester.
My main component of my thesis will take place the next two semesters when I am able to work with a small business and implement this thesis strategy.
I have already reached out and informed the small business of my plan and gave them a timeline for completion. There will be one component of the case study that I won't be able to complete until January. I will help design materials for the small business to participate in a rental convention that takes place in January.
This week as I was refining my DS and Materials Matrix, I was going over and over what the importance of this thesis project is for me. I may never actually start this business but the value I think comes in the form of working with a small business. I may work for a design studio one day and my job will most likely be creating these case studies. Wehn editing my DS chart, I added another section titles WHY. This helped me align my priorities of each section. The Case study WHY really resonated with me. Why: The case study serves as proof of the successful collaboration between the marketing and design firm and the small business. It provides concrete evidence of their ability to achieve specific goals and generate measurable results. The case study adds credibility and demonstrates the firm’s expertise and effectiveness in delivering successful outcomes.
Where ever I work, having a successful collaboration will always be important. Value also comes in the form of understanding how my designs can impact a certain demographic. My thesis concentrate on Gen Z however, these ideas can be implemented to work for any generation or demographic.
