When starting this new assignment, I began by taking a look back at my past work. I started by brainstorming titles for the design and marketing firm. While I had a list of names from before, I revisited my old names and also added some new ones. Ultimately I think I would like to keep the name Dezign but I am keeping an open mind to new ideas.
I also took the time to start the sketches for the firm. I also revised my old sketches for this. I kept some old ones and added some new designs as well.
I began my user journey next. I connected the persona "The Copywriter" to the user journey map as well. Sketching the User Journey Map, I revisited my user journey map from last semester to make sure it was accurate. Sketching the user journey map, my starting point was identifying the key touchpoints and interactions a user would have with our product or service. I chose the persona Samantha because she represents a significant segment of my target demographic. As the in-house marketing expert tasked with finding a solution, Samantha's journey offers insights. By centering on her, I was able to deeply understand the specific needs and expectations of our primary audience.
New Learnings: This helped me think about the importance of empathy in design. Beyond putting together a functional product or service, it's important to think about their emotions, motivations, and challenges. Mapping Samantha's journey showed potential pain points and areas. I also recognized the significance of periodically reviewing past materials to ensure their continued relevance. Even after the initial sketching, I found myself revisiting and refining the journey based on new information. Initially, I had mapped out Samantha's entire journey, but later realized the need to narrow my focus solely to the website experience.
In conclusion, this assignment was more than just a design task. It was a lesson in empathy, iteration, and the importance of continuous learning.
